RENEWABLE VS. NONRENEWABLE ENERGY

The Designed World

PBGRS:  Taught and Assessed

  1. The Nature of Technology

Students will identify and demonstrate the interrelationships between technologies and other fields, working to become technologically literate and adaptable in all situations.

2. Technology and Society
Students will develop an understanding of the role technology played in society
throughout history as well as the influence/effect technology currently plays culturally,
socially and environmentally and how technologies can continually evolve to benefit society.

5. The Designed World
Students will learn to turn resources, materials, tools, machines, people, information, energy, capital and time into useful products and systems.

"Describe the many ways energy be converted, into useful means for people to use to                              improve daily life"

"Describe the positives and negative of any forms of energy conversion"

NONRENEWABLE

Assignment Directions: #3

Take a few minutes to explore topics in both areas above, Once you choose an area check with me if it has been chosen, so the class can cover as many areas as possible.  Then open a GD in your Folder, identify a topic in either area of renewable or nonrenewable energy.   We discussed using google slides as a means for your presentation.  We did agree that using data rich images to discuss as you worked to answer some of the questions below, relative to your topic.

Research the area and report out on the main points. (Google doc question link)
  • Give an overview of the resource.
  • How is the product to produce energy collected and where from
  • How much energy does this resource provide?
  • What is the trend of the resource as compared to when the first data for energy production was available?
  • What is the impact on the environment using this resource?  The direction you can take the response to this question can vary.
  • What are some interesting facts you uncovered about this resource?

MOTORS AND MAGNETISM

1)Complete the survey first, before you complete any of the experiments.
