Fluid Dynamics: Pneumatic & Hydraulic Systems

Hydraulic Systems

Pre-Assessment

Proficiency to be studied
Abilities for a Technological World
Students will develop the ability to intentionally apply the design process,
implementation of tools and machines to model, test, troubleshoot, observe, investigate,
and analyze the relationship between solutions and assess impacts on all
technological products and systems.
Standard 12.  Students will develop the abilities to use and maintain technological products and systems.

These will be added to and updated.

Assignments ~ Please follow the links to complete each assignment below.  Please do them in order as they appear.  Please make certain you read the description of each activity and the directions in their entirety as you work through the experiments.

#1) Pneumatic Vs. Hydraulic Activity Sheet~ This experiment helps you form a basic understanding of the difference between pneumatic  and hydraulics.  Please follow the directions of the sheet to perform both activities.  Please read the questions before you do each activity, so you have an understanding of what you should be observing during the activity.

#2 How Do Hydraulic Systems Work?

This document gives you an overview of how how systems work together as they are integrated with either hydraulics or pneumatics'

#3 Wisc Online Tutorials ~ Go through the tutorials below learning how Hydraulic cylinders provide forces where needed and how they act when certain forces are applied back as a load

     A) Hydraulic System

#4)  States of Matter
I will present this topic to the class.  You will need the information contained with in this presentation to answer the questions for the document in #4 & #5

Watch the video below to develop an understanding of how Pascals Law works with-in a system

#7) Assignment: Complete tutorials below submit your final score to the assignment in the classroom

Before we get the the robot design elements.  Lets research concepts behind the mechanisms that will be used to make the robot operate. More explanation in class
